Python for Beginners. Python, it’s a general purpose and high-level language. But in simple words, it’s the most wonderful programming language till now and one of my favorite programming languages. It is Objective Oriented, imperative, procedural, reflective or we can say that it is a multi-paradigm Language. First appeared in 1991 but the stable release came out this year. So, this is the history of Python. We can find this on Wikipedia too.

Where Python Used
Python is the fastest growing Programming language. Python has bumped off Java as the dominant learning language. In top universities, the concept of Programming is taught by using the only python. If we talk about real world example, software like Maya includes Python. Python is popular among web development too, best utilized in the back end of the web applications. For example, websites like Quora and Facebook contains lots of Python code.
Most of the time, this question is answered in the same way, “Python does the job in less number of lines.” My dear friends, this is not the only reason you should go for python. First, Python is easy. Its syntax is straightforward, readable and convincing. That is why the scientists are using it. Secondly, Python is fast. When we relate the Python interpreter to other interpreters, we think that Python interpreter will be slow. You’re wrong; projects like PyPy are making the Python programming language faster, and they are succeeding.
Python Up and Running
So, in this tutorial series Python for Beginners, we will be covering the basics of Python Programming language. In this article, am only going to tell you about how to set up for this tutorial series. There are two main versions of Python, Python 2.7 and Python 3.0. In this, we will be using Python 2.7, the most widely used version of Python.
So, for Python for beginners, first you have to install Python on your computer. For that, you have to follow these steps –
- Goto Python.org. Under Download Tab, click on Python 2.7.10.
- Install Python.
After it, you need to choose an IDE of your choice. There are many IDE’s available on the internet like Online Interpreter Python Fiddle, Aptana Studio 3.6 and many more. But we will be using the inbuilt Python IDLE(GUI).
To access it, all you have to do is click on start, type “Python” and click on Python IDLE (GUI) and You are ready for coding. If you don’t want to use any IDE, you can also use Windows command line to run Python Program. For that Read How to Run Python Program on Windows Command Prompt. If you are a Linux user, you don’t have to install Python on your system. Python comes as default package in Ubuntu or Linux based systems.
